Although we have a lot of wonderful memories of our autumn down under, there were a few things we noted that we really wanted to remember. In roughly chronological order, here they are.
Down Under things to remember
- Kia Ora!
- Aotearoa - land of the long white cloud.
- Weka, morepork (owl), fantail, swamp hen.
- Deer farms.
- Coffee & biscuits.
- Kitchens (with hot water!) at all hostels & motor camps.
- Bus service with door-to-door pickup & dropoff, and commentary and photo/walk stops along the way, plus mail deliveries and thrown-out newspaper bundles.
- Reasonably priced items (steak, burgers, 'za, corn, beer) that turn really cheap when multiplied by .6 or .5777.
- "Falling back" instead of "springing forward" during the Daylight Savings time change in March!
- Autumn colors in March.
- Sheep.
- One-way bridges.
- Drive-in bottle shops (Oz).
